We’ve wrapped up another story challenge on the site, and a big congrats to the authors who helped make this contest such a blast! I know I definitely had some favorite stories in this round which—regardless of the popular vote—won my vote… We had a lot of excellent entries this time around. It was, in fact, one of the most popular and competitive challenges we’ve had yet!
Let’s use this thread to share our enthusiasm for the stories we loved in this round—for both the Top 5, and the many other fantastic stories. And I’ll just say that there were a ton of high-caliber stories in this challenge, and it’s always fun to hear what everyone’s personal favorites were.

Nocturne’s 3rd Key for sure! I’m glad the contest is over so he can churn out another few (dozen) chapters, the first two were wonderful.
Story challenges are my favourite part of the site by far.
One plus of being an approver is getting to read some of the stories early

You know the weird thing is, and I think it’s because I changed the series title when I added a second part, the second part hardly got read. There’s about a thousand unique views on Third Key, but there’s only about 300 on Fourth Tent. Now I wonder if instead of retitling it Sex And Cantrip I should have just been Third Key Part 2, Third Key Part 3, Etc.
By the way the title of the series is a reference to the Marcy Playground song I Smell Sex and Candy.

The Roommate Retcon was my favorite of the event, I get why it didn’t land in the Top 5 since it’s a bit softer than the tone most people go for but I thought as a feat of writing it was really compelling.

Congrats to the authors! “Accidental Boy” is one of my favourite stories in a while, and I am desperate for a continuation haha.
The Unit Designation: Prime story was also very original and well written. Has got me off a few times now.

A big congratulations to all the authors. It was really some great work all around. I particularly enjoyed Naedre’s Unit Designation Prime, and hopes it gets some more chapters. But the submissions in general were all really good and everyone deserves a mention (I just don’t have that kind of time.)

I also want to highlight this story. 
It was one of the first entries, and became a quick personal favorite. My instincts off the bat were also that it might not make it into the Top 5… but that’s mostly due to how I notice readers tend to vote in contests, rather than anything to do with the quality of the writing.
But yeah, I was like “oh, wow!” and very impressed with The Roommate Retcon. It was a thorough, creative interpretation of the prompt, and it did a spin on the ‘oblivious to Chronivac changes and transformations!’ type of story in a unique and gentle way, and it ended up combining some pretty steamy sex with a really romantic vibe. Plus, the narrative voice was endearingly written, and I thought the characters were really well drawn. Serious kudos to this one!
