I know that now that I’m basically done with the manuscript I’m just being my typical self and re-re-retweeking every bloody scene. I’m anxious for it to be Friday too!

Out of curiosity… whatever happened to rubbrsome? I know he was writing his own fan-sequel to Pollination, but then he stopped updating the story and disappeared from the site. I liked the themes he was playing with, and how he melded your alien/plant symbiosis kink with his usual rubber drone kink. I thought his theme of the symbiotes trying their original tactic again while the humans had adapted to better combat them was really fun and wanted to see how it panned out.

I had a short talk with rubbrsome a couple of weeks ago. He’s fine, but he has some personal difficulties to deal with which is taking all of his attention. He plans to come back as soon as he has been able to deal with these problems, which might take a while.
Let’s cross our fingers that everything turns out well for him! I certainly miss his stories, too, and I also really hope everything is going to turn out fine for him.

Just hearing that @Corin makes me feel a lot better. I appreciate knowing rather than speculating. (And during this pandemic, it’s way too easy to fear the worst.) Thank you for sharing that news.
I loved what @rubbrsome did with POLLINATION! First – the obvious question, “Why humans? Why not animals? What if a bear got into the flowers?” is so fundamentally brilliant that it’s no wonder he’s a writer of his stature. If the Symbionts are from another planet, then they’d try to connect with whatever life-form they found, wouldn’t they?
Secondly, he went dark – WAY dark!
He was very careful and considerate of my feelings. He wanted to add a layer of… rubbrsome that would more accurately mix our worlds and styles. I was able to read ahead – he wanted me to “approve” each chapter before he posted it – and I really liked where he was going.
Like I said, dark.
I will talk a little more about Rubbrsome’s future POLL universe when we get to chap21 – the final chap of Book Two.

Rubbrsome was always great at dipping into dark waters. His erotica was always the kind that, on first read, made my soul squirm a little bit even as it made my junk tingle. He is absolutely to blame for turning the death of personality into a kink for me. I have a vivid memory of it being when I came to the final “RUBBER DRONE. RUBBER DRONE” bit at the end of “Brainfeed.” The Great One’s subjugation of Murdock at the end of Book One reminded me a bit of that same dark tone, and I’m willing to bet it was that scene that convinced Rubbrsome to reach out to you to collaborate.
While I am very happy that you returned to resume the series yourself, I still hope that we get to see Rubbrsome’s vision in its entirety at some point. I want to know exactly what twisted, decadent fantasies my two favorite writers could cook up together.

“BRAINFEED” remains one of my all-time favorite stories. It took me days to get all the way through it, I was cumming so often…
Ironicaly, Rubbrsome felt the same way about POLL:THE SERIES.
When Rubbrsome began his vision of POLL, I had no intention of ever returning to it. It was really reading @Hypnothrill 's dissertation during quarantine that got me thinking, “Well, what if you die and you never finish it?”
That got my head into it… and here we are.

I don’t just write short stories based on Absman’s work. I’ve written academic papers on it (including a few pages in my aforementioned dissertation) for years. And “Cycle One” is one of the main strories I discuss in a chapter I’ve written in the essay collection Embodying Contagion, which is coming out next year from University of Chicago Press. I also discuss Wrestlr’s “InFiltration” stories and an old story from the muscle growth author Magus (“Four Weeks Later”).
