Suddenly the thought of posting stuff on here intimidates me…

Just ordered my copy!

To be fair, so am I.

Nothing academic, tho. I wrote a humorous book (a gay take on the Grinch) that was pubished in the 90’s – I also did the illustrations. It made a second printing – that was something.

I’m prouder of my work as a lyricist/ playwright. I’ve had over a dozen shows produced – two national tours and one entry in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I love writing lyrics! I wish there was a career in it. I think when you know my background is in music (I have a Masters degree in Music Ed – piano/voice), the rhythms and cadences in my stories make much more sense.

Hey @absman420 - music is my main area. Not in Pollination but in a future story - I’d love to see you meld your lyric-writing skills in one of these mind control stories. (Perhaps there’s a certain lyric that under the right circumstances bends the mind.) I hope you’ll give it a try!

In fact, I’m good at catchy hooks – even more insidious with ear-worms – but I’ve never found it to be an erotic avenue. I’ve read a couple stories that use songs (the band) as the trigger, but I’ve never attempted that.

I’d like to see that as well, although he did write a part 2. I remember reading it on another site, but I can’t seem to find it now. I’m writing my own version of Cycle One focused around martial arts. I’m looking forward to reading your essay. BTW I’m also an academic/scholar working on a few things (music, literature, religion, martial arts).

Guess who’s coming to life today?

I have been eagerly awaiting the reveal of Deputy Great One. Will he lead our heroes to victory or ruin? Sexy salvation or hypnotic enslavement? Just a little bit longer and we’ll have our answer!

He will need to create his army quickly because the sheriff mistakenly sent an army of FBI agents to a farm half covered with our favorite flowers. Tully will flee in terror as she watches agent after agent slip his cock in the petals. She has no data on how it is spread other than pollen found in Robbie Ray’s lungs.

No matter what I’m hard in anticipation seeing the deputy great one revealed. And its not just morning wood.

You know, it just struck me: you mentioned that the Sheriff, Snake, Joe, and the Lt. are your four alphas, and the four of them have a scene together- just one scene. It will probably be coming in Chapter 10 or 11, and I have a feeling it’s going to deal, at least in part, with why Joe seems to be immune to a Great One’s power. What implications that might have for the climax of Book II, and potentially for Book III, remain to be seen…

I’m deliberately not talking about it because I’m afraid of giving stuff away. We’re too close to the ending right now to discuss anything in broad strokes and I want there to be some surprises.

BUT I will say this: your guess above is wrong. Glad your head’s in it, tho.

That’s fair. We’re heading into Act 3 of Book II, and like I said, I’m just glad I guessed that the Deputy would still retain his memory, Snake and Lane would get enthralled, and that Vernon would get his hands on (and, presumably his cock inside of, in a coming chapter) Rugby Boy.

Here’s something I CAN talk about. The opening sequence of 18 (pt 68) was originally plotted to be the last vignette in chap 17. As a matter of fact, chap 17 went like this:
66: Army escapes
67: Variants given Mission
68: Emergence of New Great One

And when I got there, I realized time was all wonky. The Variants scene happens at sunset, the Army in the night, and the Emergence at sunrise the next day. But I wrote it in the order I’d plotted.

By the time I’d gotten to the end of the Variants’ scene, I was already way over my chapter word count, so I decided to punt 68 to the beginning of chap18. I felt like that made the Variants’ travel time seem more reasonable. If they’d left Kansas and arrived in WV over the course of one subplot, that would jar the reader.

The time thing kept bugging me, realizing that the escape scene would technically happen after the Variants’ scene, I went back and swapped those two sections (this should explain why there’s more of a cliff-hanger on the Variants’ scene as opposed to the John Denver song at the end of the Escape).

Opening 18 with the “birth” of the New Great One made such good sense, and it allowed me to create the cutaway Tully scene that wasn’t part of the original plotting. (You’ll see the 2nd part of the Tully scene in chap19 – originally, that was the only scene plotted)

In my original plotting, Rugby Boy would’ve been facing a very different sort of jeopardy at the end of the chapter. I’ll explain that after 19 gets published.

I’ll assume that the original intent was for the two “HAIL GREAT ONE” moments to bookend Chapter 17, but I agree that moving things around to order the vignettes chronologically was the right call. And now I’m very curious to learn what exactly you had planned for Rugby Boy in the original version of 18!

Given your description of the Walls as true rednecks, what do you guys think of Peter Axel as the elder Wall? He’s by no means a particularly handsome man, but he’s such a slab of meat!

I wrote this as a comment for chap 18, but I wanted to bring it over here, too. There seemed to be some clarification needed about the Variants and their powers:

Vance = scent
Vinnie = touch
Vernon = implant, however, Vernon has displayed weak scent and touch powers, too (as he did in this vignette w Rugby Boy). Although there’s no evidence to support this, his cum may have a different effect orally versus anally. I consider Vance the most powerful of the three – but not the sharpest tool in the shed. After chap19, I’ll be free to discuss this less cryptically.

Vance is the most sexually charged. The redhead.
Vinnie is the cleverest, probably the smartest. The brunette
Vernon is always looking to prove himself. He’s the most beautiful of the three, but the least self-confident. The blond.
