That’s helpful to get some clarification of the different personalities. Giving the three variants all “V” names is a cute touch, but I do have a lot of trouble remembering which is which. When I read that convenience store scene, I initially thought it featured the same variant who was in the car lot scene.

As per usual, I have a hunch as to why, but I’m going to try and keep my speculation over the final few chapters to myself for the time being: I’m sure you’re getting just a tad weary of admonishing me that giving me an answer would constitute spoilers. 
Expect a jubilant “I knew it” or surprised/impressed “Well played” come Friday, for a number of potential plot developments.

Believe me when I say there are things I’m anxious to discuss, but want you to experience the story before I break it down.
When I was a student teacher, the choir I was working with sang at Epcot Center in Disneyworld. Because we were performers, we entered through the “underground city” that exists beneath Disney, for the employees and technicians. While the underground city was in itself amazing, it totally ruined the park for me, because the magic had been revealed before I could experience it.
That’s how I feel about SPOILERS. I love talking about stuff, but we’re fast approaching the denouement and I don’t want you to know about the underground city yet.

Okay, here’s your ESSAY QUESTION:
BOOK TWO deals thematically with the idea of Fathers & Sons. The four Alpha Males (Sheriff, Snake, Joe Lenoldi, and the Lieutenant) each have a father/son, daddy/boy, dom/slave relationship with another cast member. (Not to mention the minor roles of Mr. Mac, the Coach, or Daddy Wall.)
Discuss how these different father/son relationships affect the characters’ story arcs.
(PS — I’m kidding. I don’t expect real essays.)

I’ll try to keep it short then. Ahem:
Snake: His relationship with Rugby Boy humanizes him. He’s protective in a way I did not expect, I half expected him to let Rugby Boy get pollinated and bonded by the plant in the woods. He seems to genuinely love Rugby Boy, which is why I’ve been rooting for those two so hard.
Joe Lenoldi: Unlike the Walls, who have apparently dived head-first into father-son incest (a spoof on the incestuous redneck trope?), Joe keeps his relationship with Tony completely platonic, if sex-positive. His concern for Tony allows us to witness Bowden’s horror and villainy with eyes unclouded by the haze of lust, and has also potentially forced him into the role of unlikely hero.
The Lieutenant: While he definitely sees himself as superior to Devin, there is still a military air to it, and martial brotherhood is a special bond. The Lt. will be straightforward with Devin, and I have no doubt that, once the opportunity presents itself, the Lt. will present Devin with a plant of his own.
The Sheriff: Toxic masculinity incarnate, willing to use others for his own end. The Deputy never stops being a subordinate to him, even after the Deputy’s feelings become clear. He is the foil to Joe and Snake in that their feelings for their “sons” are genuine, and the Lt. is at least transactional and honest with Devin, whereas the Sheriff simply demands obedience and loyalty without reward and seems incapable of dealing with the Deputy honestly.

Another all time favorite of mine. I can read over and over again. The first 4 chapters and the series.
I have an idea for an orgin story of how the first milk man would be created but I’m not a writer and I wouldn’t be able to do your story concept justice. It remains a Playing with Absman’s Milk Man while playing with myself.
