Over the last two years, I have gone from story approver to ‘email man’ (sending emails and other communications on behalf of the team) to ‘co-steward’ with all the authority necessary to make administrative choices. This has been an incredible privilege, pleasure, and honour to me. To care for a community is the most important thing to me, and I’ve been working in jobs and volunteer positions of community care for seven years. I love everyone and wish to empathise with everyone and to resolve conflicts in ways that make every party feel heard and respected. I am here to honour everyone’s humanity and perspective while preserving the community’s values as I see them.
Corin and I agree on much of the above. But, unfortunately, due to the other, irreconcilable differences between myself and Corin, whose love and loving coding have fostered this site’s community for years, I can no longer fulfil my role as site steward. We have opposing perspectives on conflict resolution, community values, the role of site management, and more. Our conflicts have grown too heated, stressful, and frequent for me to handle while still writing my stories and doing my day job.
So I will be stepping down from an administrative role entirely—I will be a regular user, with no admin privileges whatsoever. Corin will now handle all messaging and executive decisions for the staff team again. Most of our conflicts arose specifically from messaging, so you can trust that the staff team will be much more focused and much less chaotic without our clashes! I foresee smooth sailing for the whole admin team from now on.
I know this probably seems abrupt, given that I’ve just started making sitewide announcements, but I’ve been doing this for a long time and only began to face the public recently. I will miss this role terribly—it became an important part of my identity. Thank you to all the authors, readers, and commenters who make this site so vibrant. I look forward to posting more stories here—trust me, they will come.
