I’m definitely a fan of the Thumbs Up in the Feedback; it’s been an inspiration to continue writing seeing that readers are giving a thumbs up to the work. But how did this feature come into being and how exactly does it work?
It’s only visible to the authors and admins. It’s the number of logged in users that have favorited the story.
I like it a lot too ![]()
Thanks for explaining the function; like I said, the Thumbs Up has been a nice push to keep writing. Seeing people supporting the work is really motivating,
I think it stemmed from my request for a “Like” feature similar to other social media platforms and sites. I agree that this has been a nice subtle feature for authors to get a feel of how their stories have been received. Some people are shy to leave comments and sometimes we just want to leave a mark of appreciation without necessarily having a whole lot to warrant a comment, so a Like/Thumbs Up is a good option for that.
Just for some background: This is one of the oldest features on the site. It was implemented by Hugh before I took over in 2017.
When I responded, I couldn’t remember if I’d added it or you had ![]()
Then it’s good that I remember … ![]()
I don’t want to take credit for something I haven’t done!
Oops…my bad then. I didn’t realize that function existed in the past. Credits back to where it’s due for sure.
