As much as I hate the thousand word limit can GSS at least put word counter there so I know how many words I’ve typed down before I publish.
I don’t think there’s a word limit for publishing a chapter, not that I’ve seen at least. And I’m almost positive when you upload a story as a draft, you can view the word count before publishing. At least from what I remember, you can! You have to publish it as a draft though before being able to see the word count.
There is no word counter as you type, that’s correct. But you can save the story regardless of the current number of words, and then you can see how many words there are.
I guess the thread starter was talking about the lower limit, 1000 words, which is required before you can publish a story.
I’ll take the suggestion to add an online word counter into advice. And the lower limit of 1000 words can also certainly be discussed, but is has worked very well throughout the years.
Shorter, tumblr-like stories (including image illustrations) were suggested by me at one point, but were eventually not met with much love by the commnunity.
